The program will be presented by George Findlen, a certified genealogist and certified genealogical lecturer.

This how-to talk shows participants how to locate a newspaper or funeral home serving the communities in which elderly relatives are known to live. The talk also shows participants how to search for obituaries of relatives who have died within the past two-to five-years. The talk then demonstrates how to cut and paste the obituary into one’s genealogy software, create a source note, and extract information about the family. The speaker encourages participants to add missing names, note which sibling has died or is still alive, and where each sibling and child lived at the time of the relative’s death. The talk is aimed at intermediate genealogists.
