We're excited to announce that our annual July outing will be held in Stoughton, Wisconsin on Saturday, July 11th (no meeting on July 2).
There will be three parts to the outing:
Livsreise Center Self-Guided Tour (open 9:30 – 4:30) Consists of several displays and a current visiting exibit from Vesterhein called "Sacred Symbols: The Folk Art of Norway," featuring wood, silver, horn and textile artifacts. Through the exhibition, visitors will be able to identify the many symbols that have come down from the Viking past and understand something about the use of symbols in family rituals in Norway in the nineteenth century. You may visit the center before or after the scheduled part of the day or BOTH!
Livsreise Center Genealgy Room: Learn about the resourses that are located both in the room and how to use their computers to access Norwegian records in both the USA and in Norway. There will be two groups for this workshop, 10:30-11:30 and 1:30-2:30, as the room is small.
Lunch and demonstrations: Everyone will meet at the Sons of Norway Mandt Lodge (across the street from the Livsreise) at 12 Noon. The following demonstrations will start during dessert and last until approximately 1:00 PM: Rosemaling, Vikings and Norwegian Folklore.
